Zebra InformationZebras are equids, members of the horse family. They inhabit tropical grasslands in sub-Saharan Africa. These animals are covered in beautiful black and white stripes and are odd-toed ungulates. Some zoologists believe that the stripes act as camouflage. Zebras are social herd animals, living in groups called harems. There are three species of zebra in Africa: the Plains or Burchell's zebra (Equus burchelli), this is the most common one; the Mountain zebra (Equus zebra) and Grevy's zebra (Equus grevyi).
